...that's what it feels like....
Obama comes to Boston!
the president comes to boston....to MY school....and I won't be here ALL day. I won't even have the chance to skip my class to shake hands with his secret service....
my luck must really suck.
this isn't my first chance to see him, but it seems like every time he comes to speak to the liberal masses of massachusetts; i am away in mind, spirit, or body.
why am i missing such a could-have-been monumental moment in my life? because my TFA interview has tiptoed it's way into my google calender and completely eaten my friday.
i'm a little nervous...ok a lot of nervous...
i've decided to teach my 5 min lesson on the greatest common factor....a method that i wasn't even aware of until last week :) i'm sure its familiar to others, but i'm pretty sure i never learned GCF...ever....it was some concept without a name....some magical spirit that reduced fractions for me...guess that's why i've always hated fractions just a little...because i never knew about GCF....
anyway, i believe the point of this exercise (and that's all that matters right) is to demonstrate that the interviewee can create a timely, creative lesson. you have 5 mins and that's it....my hour long recitations seem like 5 minutes (i always go over).
i'm going to make it interesting with some long shot comparison about what serena williams and michael phelps have in common.
i think i'll do fine on the one on one part...i love talking about myself...well, not really...but if i keep saying that, i will (eventually).
the preparation continues..
wish me luck.....
